The Manga Man Premiere – Winksite teams up with Sci-Fi Author Alexander Besher In Meta-Multimedia First

New York, NY, October 18, 2008 — Winksite, a leading mobile content management and social networking software company whose solutions connect publishers to their audiences and audience members to each other, announced plans to team up with novelist Alexander Besher, Philip K. Dick Award nominated author, to launch direct to mobile “The Manga Man,” the San Francisco-based journalist, author, and futurist’s first novel since his celebrated “Rim Trilogy” (“Rim,” “Mir,” and “Chi;” HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster). Besher’s tome is a 600-page alternative fantasy noir epic that’s set in the mid-21st century when the speed of media has overtaken the speed of light. The story features a half-digital, half-human “post-Zen” Butoh dancer-assassin whose mission is “to stop the warlords who plan to clone the universe.”

Born in China, raised and educated in Japan, Alexander Besher is a San Francisco-based author, journalist and novelist. Nokia Conversations Launches Mobile Version with Winksite

Nokia Conversations just launched their corporate social media site using Winksite for their mobile version. This first version of the mobile site has several channels automatically updating via feed syndication. Over the next several days we’re looking to activate several mobile-tuned community features such as forum, chat, and polls…

…and a very cool new feature at Winksite, (not yet publicly released) which will adapt select Nokia Conversations video content for display on their mobile site.

UPDATE: MobileBarCodeCamp Has Merged With MobileCamps – NY Event Set For Nov 10th

We have merged MobileBarCodeCamp with MobileCamps, since the overlap of both events are big enough to make it into one.

Everyone who has RSVP’d for the NYC event has been moved over to MobileCampNYC2.

The idea is to have a dedicated track for all things related to Barcodes, RFID and Physical Hyperlinking in general. For this track we will have 10 sessions dedicated to one room (although it is still possible to use free spots on the main grid later.) People First. Charlie Schick's Mobile Lifestyle Manifesto.

A few of us here in NY (Semapedia, area/code, Socialight, and Winksite) have been kicking around the idea of a Mobile Bill of Rights and planned on discussing it at MobileCampNYC on the 19th.

I’ve been trying to sort out my own thoughts as to where to begin…

…and then I saw Charlie Schick’s Mobile Lifestyle Manifesto.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I like the base Charlie has put together here.

Mobile Lifestyle Manifesto

  • We are 3 billion strong, respect us – you serve us, you help us.
  • We are not consumers, but active participants in our lives.
  • We want to actively connect and communicate with others, not passively receive.
  • Content is not the end point, but also the start and the middle, too – a catalyst for conversation.
  • Don’t let technology interfere, we want to do things that just work, not fiddle, even if we know what we need to fiddle with.
  • Keep us happy, or we will look for happiness elsewhere.
  • My life is hyperconnected – a lot of stuff coming in and a lot going out. I have no problem with this, so don’t mess my flow, but be a part of it.
  • Keep everything I do smooth, easy, beautiful, and simple.
  • Show me the seams: Don’t obscure things either by making them too complex or too simple.
  • Help me when I’m mobile. Help me when I’m not. Give me the right metaphors for the right moments – don’t mix them up.

Wireless Ink provided Warner with a platform to publish content, a layer that connects a variety of social media, and a persistent mobile space to point live-venue and SMS marketing promotions. The whole process took approximately 15 minutes. Did I mention they needed it quick?
